3/15/2023 0 Comments Armor terraria![]() This also applies a lot to less skilled and newer players, however. Higher defense is also more desirable if you're using the nurse in fights, as you worry more about short term survivability rather than long term survivability. Later on, it might be better to opt for armors which offer a higher dps for events and such where tanking hits is more viable due to hearts. So although titanium armor is the most poweful armor set in the game, there are definitely times when it's not the best option. Newer players tend to get hit more, in which case, having higher defense is more beneficial. Newer players might dismiss the set from an anecdotal perspective, as they aren't as experienced with dodging and boss patterns. Amount of seconds between hitsīecause of this, it also makes sense that this armor set is often overlooked. The better you are at dodging, the more powerful shadow dodge becomes. This peaks at a rate of once every 30 seconds, capping at 100% of the damage you take being mitigated. if you assume you get hit once every 10 seconds (a much more reasonable estimate), suddenly 1/3 of the damage you take is completely mitigated. 6.67% might not seem incredibly high, but that is the bare minimum. ![]() Shadow dodge is an extremely unique ability in that it actively scales to be better the better you are at the game. However, this is an absolute minimum, and assumes the player is getting hit constantly. This means that at an absolute minimum the player is invincible 6.67% (2/30x100) of the time. This makes it 3 times as powerful as regular invincibility frames, and 1.5 times more powerful than cross necklace invincibility frames. Titanium's shadow dodge grants a whopping 2 seconds of invincibility frames upon activation. Normal invincibility frames last 40t, or 0.67~ seconds, and with the cross necklace, invincibility frames last 80t or 1.33~ seconds. However, the granted invincibility frames do not function like normal invincibility frames. The player has the shadow dodge buff activeĬonditions 2 and 3 seem identical at first, however it's important to remember that even if a player has hit an enemy in the last 30 seconds, if they've activated the buff in the last 30 seconds, the internal cooldown prevents the buff from being received again. The player has hit an enemy in the last 30 seconds The player has a full set of titanium armor equipped Getting hit with the shadow dodge buff results in a "dodge" effect where all damage from a given hit is mitigated and the player is granted invincibility frames. ![]() So imagine that when receiving the shadow dodge buff, you're actually receiving a second invisible buff alongside it that also lasts 30 seconds. It is important to note that this internal cooldown is activated when the shadow dodge buff is granted, not when it is activated. This buff lasts for thirty seconds and has an internal cooldown of 30 seconds before it can be activated. The way it works is when you have a full set of titanium armor, hitting an enemy grants you the shadow dodge buff. Now for the real reason titanium armor is completely broken. So although melee titanium armor is less viable, it still might be worth using titanium into late game for the next reason I'll bring up. It is also worth mentioning that the melee set for chlorophyte is significantly more powerful that titanium's, because for whatever reason, the titanium mask is significantly weaker than the helmet and headgear. However, the idea of this comparison is to show that titanium is an armor set usable well into late game. Titanium does have chlorophyte beat by an, albeit negligible 1% in movement speed. It's also worth mentioning that the defense disparity is the largest when comparing ranged sets. However, for one, ammo consumption is not very important in general, and I'll explain later as to why the defense difference doesn't matter. (We'll compare ranged sets since they're easy to compare, and for streamlining purposes) Statsįrom what we can see, in terms of damage, titanium and chlorophyte are nearly identical, with one having 2% higher damage, and one having 2% crit rate, essentially balancing itself out.Ĭhlorophyte has titanium beat in defense and ammo consumption. To further demonstrate my point, I'll compare the stats to chlorophyte, an armor set which is obtained significantly later in the game than titanium. So I thought I'd make a post about why it's the most broken armor set in the game.īefore anything, I'd like to go over titanium's base stats. I thought I was in a general majority when it came to my stance on titanium armor, but apparently I'm in a pretty niche minority here, at least from what I've gathered from other posts. ![]()
